We’re not sure if seeing our shadow is a good thing or not, but we know construction prep continues as temperatures bump up a bit and Oak Park Avenue will remain open for at least one more week.
No road closures or detours until Feb 5 or 6 at the earliest. Only two one-block sections of Oak Park Avenue will be closed after that date during Stage 1 of construction. (see map)
Lake Street will remain open across Oak Park Avenue throughout the project. Construction will not close or detour this important artery.
How deep will we burrow? Sewer lines will be located 12-13 feet below Oak Park Avenue’s surface. Oak Park’s lines flow down to the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant, which treats wastewater for all of Chicago plus 43 surrounding communities.
Even with the sub-zero delays, the project still hopes to start the underground dig six weeks earlier than originally forecast!
