The process of construction rarely ‘sparks joy,’ but the Hemingway District is looking lighter and tidier as sidewalk excavation, concrete pouring and ramp-building, continue the push northward.
1. Better communications infrastructure. North of the tracks, AT&T crews are replacing outdated and degraded structures along Oak Park Avenue near Hunter Court and North Boulevard. This may result in the temporary relocation of one or more pedestrian crossings.
2. New foundations to help light the way. To the south, the electrical contractor is drilling and pouring light pole and traffic signal foundations from Pleasant Street to South Boulevard.
3. One day more! Tomorrow, Friday, July 31, is the deadline to submit your receipts at the UPS Store for the July monthly drawing for the new Bike to the Biz promotion. One winner will be awarded $250 in Biker Bucks to spend at any of more than 30 participating Hemingway District businesses and three local bike shops. But don’t worry! You can hang onto and submit July-dated original receipts during the remaining months of the promotion (one envelope per entrant per month). Monthly winners will be announced through November 1.
