Moving Right Along

Installation of new water hydrants is one sign that work is moving at a fast clip along the closed block of Oak Park Avenue from Ontario to Lake Street.

1. Separate crews push forward. Two full crews are balancing the heavy work of installing two separate systems—water and sewer—simultaneously.

2. Remember, everyone can still drive and use street parking on Oak Park Avenue between Pleasant and Lake Streets. Plus, free 90-minute parking is available every day at the Avenue Garage, 720 North Boulevard.

3. Up next? Testing! Once installed, the new water main will undergo a comprehensive battery of tests supervised by the Village of Oak Park Water Department to ensure full compliance for structural integrity and watertightness as well as meeting Illinois EPA drinking water standards.
