Pleasant (Street) Detour Coming

Crews will be installing the new roadway brick pavers in the Pleasant and Oak Park Ave intersection next week.

1. Pleasant intersection to close. Pleasant Street at Oak Park Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic for approximately four (4) days starting Monday, October 12. Watch for ‘Road Closed Ahead’ signs and detours to Euclid, Grove or Randolph streets. While it may be a bit unpleasant, it’s short-term pain for long-term gain. The multi-day closure will allow for a special asphalt and a rubber-like ‘mastic’ base to be poured and bricks laid immediately afterward. (That base will help ensure better long-term wear of brick pavers at an intersection where many turns are made.)

2. Ramping up one more time. Ramps coming to soon to the north block of Oak Park Avenue. Just like along south Oak Park Avenue, businesses will all be open and ramps will safely guide visitors to storefronts as lighting and irrigation utilities are installed and curbs are poured between North Boulevard and Hunter Court.

3. Meet September’s Bike to the Biz winner! Tamar Zamora, holding seven-week-old daughter Maya, is a regular at Dandelion bookshop. This “heavily caffeinated” young mom of two says that she’s a regular “everywhere they sell coffee in Oak Park.” In fact, she was at Dandelion when she found out her name was drawn as the winner of $250 in Biker Bucks.
