Advancing North

With infrastructure upgrade work by AT&T and Union Pacific crews wrapping up, roadway excavation and concrete preparation work will begin on the north side of Oak Park Avenue early next week:

South Oak Park Avenue ramps due to be taken down. As the pouring of concrete for new sidewalks and the installation of structured soil are completed, protective safety ramps will be removed as visitors will be able to use the sidewalks again. Ramp entries will then be set up north of the tracks once concrete pouring of new sidewalks begins in that part of the construction area.

Last call for August entries for Bike to the Biz. With recent weather calming and cooling, catch some fresh air and pedal over to the Hemingway District! Finish collecting and submitting your receipts from the 30+ participating businesses and submit them at the UPS Store, 805 Lake St., by Monday, Aug. 31. You could be announced in next week’s issue as the August monthly winner of $250 in Biker Bucks!

Brick paver work on Oak Park Avenue will begin next week. Did you know brick streets last 6 to 10 times longer than asphalt roadways? Although most of the Village’s brick-paved streets and alleys have been replaced, hauled off for recycling, or remain buried beneath asphalt layers, Oak Park still features—and has even added—a select number of brick streets.
