Construction will include the latest urban landscaping advances, including ‘tree pits’ that can be easily widened to guide deeper and wider roots as trees mature. Tree canopy along Oak Park Avenue to increase by nearly 50%. The 27 trees taken down earlier this week will be replaced by 40 trees selected for urban hardiness, color, and three-season interest by landscape architects working with the village’s Forestry Division. Additional trees will be sited in new, larger planting areas in the streetscape. Work began this past week to install underground water main and sewer structures on the Randolph to Pleasant and Lake to Ontario blocks. This process is expected to last about four weeks.
