With two of four blocks along Oak Park Avenue now reopen to traffic, construction has advanced fully into Stage 3 of the five-stage project. The central business district will be a hub for most Stage 4 and 5 activities, including extensive brick paver installation up, down and across the Avenue and its multiple alleys and streetscapes. 1. Street parking lanes remain closed from Ontario to Lake and Randolph to Pleasant. Landscaping work—adding topsoil, followed by new sod—is under way along the newly reopened blocks. Street parking will reopen once completed. 2. Maya Del Sol is opening their valet parking to customers of neighboring Hemingway District businesses. For a flat $5 fee per car, diners or shoppers coming to the District can enjoy valet parking “south of the tracks” (valet entrance located in the alley behind St. Edmund’s Church). Valet hours of operation are 4-9 pm Tuesday through Thursday and 4–10 pm Friday and Saturday. It’s a new and easier way to enjoy drinks, dinner and shopping wherever you’re headed in the District. 3. Get ready for Father’s Day—and the official start of summer—in the Hemingway District! Come find what Dad likes at our shops and restaurants. Buy him an annual membership in Friends of Hemingway, providing early access, special promotions and members-only events!
