Converting buildings up and down Oak Park Avenue to new sewer service doesn’t sound glamorous, but two to three buildings per day are now being connected—more steady construction progress.
Up to 30 workers are on the job each working day. Divided into multiple crews, they’re advancing parallel water, sewer, and electrical installations north of Lake Street, south of Pleasant Street, and throughout the main business district—in other words, everything everywhere all at once.
Hundreds joined in the Hemingway District Block last Saturday! Kids played in a huge sandbox, folks got their construction questions answered, and everyone enjoyed entertainment by School of Rock. Oak Park Avenue may look closed, but all sidewalks—and their stores and restaurants—are open every day with free 90-minute parking at the convenient Avenue Garage.
