Our village’s 2026 new year’s resolution to upgrade Oak Park Avenue is already kicking into gear, six weeks earlier than originally planned! The Renew the Avenue project team is resolved to move this complex infrastructure project forward on time, so we’re not waiting for the spring thaw. The first stage of this yearlong project is set to begin next week, weather permitting.

Look for this email in your inbox every Thursday, with three useful information items every week to help you plan: 

Starting Wednesday, January 21, two segments of Oak Park Avenue will be closed, from Randolph to Pleasant and Lake to Ontario streets. Thru-traffic will be detoured (see map) to Ridgeland and Harlem avenues at Chicago Avenue and Madison Street as crews begin to install new sewer and water mains along Oak Park Avenue.

All five stages of the project are scheduled to be substantially complete by Wednesday, November 25. Oak Park Avenue will fully reopen prior to Thanksgiving Day.
